Black Bear Diner Kicks Off Seventh Annual "Save Room for a Wish" Dessert Fundraiser

Redding, Calif. (November 27, 2013) – Black Bear Diner, a one-of-a-kind family dining franchise featuring excellent food and value served in a fun, bear-themed atmosphere, announced today that it is kicking off its seventh annual “Save Room for a Wish” dessert fundraiser beginning Sunday, December 1.  In partnership with Make-a-Wish, Black Bear Diner encourages customers to help grant life-changing wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

To participate in the “Save Room for a Wish” dessert fundraiser, customers simply need to save a little room for a special dessert – including a pie, cake or cobbler, or a limited-time-only wish-inspired Chocolate Brownie Sundae or Apple Cranberry Crumb Cobbler. For each of these dessert items ordered, Black Bear Diner will donate $1 to Make-a-Wish. Guests can also purchase a $1 or $5 wish star.

“Our entire corporate and franchise team rallies around this fundraiser,” said David Doty, vice president of marketing at Black Bear Diner. “Our servings at Black Bear Diner are big, but our hearts are bigger and we really want to eclipse our 2012 fundraising total so we can really benefit a great organization.”

Black Bear Diner has raised more than $547,000 for Make-a-Wish, helping grant 73 wishes. And more and more franchisees are stepping up at the local level to host wish parties. In fact, the number of wish parties hosted at Black Bear Diner restaurants has more than doubled since 2011. This year, Black Bear Diner will host Make-a-Wish Wish Kids at the following locations:

Glendale, AZ (December 3)

Goodyear, AZ (December 3)

Monterrey, CA (December 4)

Suisun City, CA (December 6 & December 22)

“This is as feel-good as it gets,” said Bob Maney, co-founder of Black Bear Diner. “We’ve seen the faces and smiles of young kids being granted their wish or being part of the whole experience, and that pure moment of joy is worth every single penny. We’re humbled to be a partner with Make-a-Wish and are just grateful that we can contribute in any way possible.”
