Some dishes just stick. The ones people keep ordering, talking about, and coming back for — those are the ones that earned their place on our menu.
These favorites were shaped over time through tweaking and testing, and made better with real feedback, and a belief that if it’s worth serving, it’s worth doing right.
That means you’ll find generous portions, scratch-made recipes, and no shortcuts — just the kind of meals people come back for.
From the ingredients that make them special to the recipes that helped them stick around, these are the stories that turned great ideas into time-tested favorites.
Bruce’s Meat Lover’s Omelette started with something specific in mind — a hearty, protein-packed option that didn’t sacrifice flavor or satisfaction. Named for our co-founder, Bruce Dean, it stuck because it delivered exactly what guests were looking for: a filling, go-to breakfast built around what matters most. Made with 3 eggs, thick-cut bacon, pork sausage link, smoked ham, and jack cheese.
Bob’s Big Bear Burger was built to stand out. Named after our co-founder Bob ‘Papa Bear’ Manley, this bold, oversized burger brings real presence to the plate. It became a must-have here because it leans into what guests expect: big flavor, big portions, and something that feels unmistakably ours. Made with a seasoned 10 oz patty, it’s served with grilled onions & all the fixins’.
The recipe for Joe’s Hobo Omelette came from an early franchise partner and caught on because it delivers everything guests love in one hearty plate. Made with thick-cut bacon, pork sausage, smoked ham, fresh spinach, and a blend of cheeses, it’s a thoughtfully built favorite that delivers big, satisfying flavor.
Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs made the menu for its hearty portion and perfect bite. It became a forever favorite because it delivered exactly what guests wanted: something familiar, satisfying, and big enough to feel like it was worth it. Served with 3 eggs and 2 homemade biscuits, you’ll find it under Hungry Bear Breakfasts.
The GRIZZ is known for bringing a bit of everything to the table in one big, satisfying spread. It became paw-pular for a simple reason: guests love having the choice to dig into it all — and know that they’re getting real value. Comes with 2 sweet cream pancakes, 2 slices of thick-cut bacon, 2 pork sausage links, and smoked ham steak along with 3 eggs served your way.
The Volcano was created by stacking our signature sweet cream pancakes high and topping them with eggs to recreate the massive snowy volcanic mountain near our very first diner. It takes a familiar diner combination and serves it in a way that feels a little different — and memorable enough to come back for. Served with 3 sweet cream pancakes, and 2 pork sausage links and 2 slices of thick-cut bacon.
Sweet Cream Pancakes started when our co-founder stumbled upon a mix that stood out for its quality and rich, distinctive flavor. They delivered something special—and found a permanent spot on the menu because guests loved them. Served as the foundation for so many meals, they’ve become an all-day breakfast favorite.
Our Patty Sausage started with a traditional Italian recipe that was shared with our co-founder, Bruce Dean, and refined until it was just right. Made in-house and carefully balanced for flavor, it’s crafted to deliver a rich, savory bite with the perfect dose of heat. It earned its place because of its quality and distinctive taste and stayed because it’s a flavor you can’t get just anywhere. Comes in spicy or mild.
Mikey’s Pot Pie started from a recipe created by the co-founder’s wife, in her own kitchen. Built around the idea of a truly classic, homestyle meal, it features a flaky crust and a hearty, comforting filling. It earned its place by delivering the kind of scratch-made dish people don’t come across every day. It’s a permanent favorite because it feels like that perfect made-at-home comfort.
Olga’s Bread Pudding began when an early team member believed it deserved a place on the menu and took the time to get it right. Baked the traditional way and finished with a rich pecan sauce, it stood out as something guests recognized as one of a kind. It established itself as a keeper because it turned a classic dessert into something worth making a special trip for.
Our Blackberry and Apple Cobblers were kitchen favorites from the early days. Guests couldn’t get enough of them— so much so that batches would sell out as soon as they were ready. Baked fresh and served warm with a rich, jammy filling, these stood out as a classic done right.
