What is included in a holiday entrée?
What is included in a holiday entrée? Full course holiday entrées come with your choice of Homestyle Turkey, Smoked Ham or Slow-Roasted Prime Rib, soup or salad, red-skinned mashed potatoes & gravy, scratch-made cornbread stuffing, Italian green beans, a cornbread muffin, and a slice of pumpkin pie. The Homestyle Turkey comes with turkey gravy and cranberry sauce. The Smoked Ham comes with scratch-made citrus Dijon glaze. The Slow-Roasted Prime Rib is carved-to-order and served with au jus and horseradish cream sauce. Please note that Prime Rib is only available for dine in.
How big is each individual entrée?
Turkey and Smoked Ham are 8 oz each. The Slow-Roasted Prime Rib is a 10 oz portion. Guest feedback notes that a full entrée is a generous serving. Light eaters could share an entrée or consider a Little Less portion.
What is a Little Less portion?
Little Less portions are built for smaller appetites. The Homestyle Turkey and Smoked Ham are 4 oz each and served with mashed potatoes and gravy, Italian green beans, and cornbread stuffing. You may order soup or salad, a cornbread muffin, or pumpkin pie a la carte to round out your meal. Please note that Prime Rib is not available in our Little Less portion.
What is included in a Cub’s holiday meal?
For kids 12 & under, choose 2 oz servings of Homestyle Turkey or Smoked Ham, served with mashed potatoes and gravy, Italian green beans, and cornbread stuffing. The Homestyle Turkey includes turkey gravy and cranberry sauce. The Smoked Ham does not include citrus Dijon glaze.
What time are holiday meals served?
Holiday meal service begins at 11am though diners will serve a limited menu of classic everyday favorites all day. Holiday meals are served while supplies last.
Do you accept reservations?
No, due to high volume, we will be on a first-come, first-served basis. What is the price for each meal? Pricing varies by location. We recommend calling the diner you plan to visit in advance.
Are you serving anything besides holiday meals on the holidays?
Yes, we will offer a limited menu of classic favorites both in diner and online for carryout and delivery.
What is a family style meal and how many does it serve?
Family style holiday meals for carryout and delivery come with either Homestyle Turkey or Smoked Ham, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, and Italian green beans, packaged for up to four people in shared containers. Choose to add a family salad, a pack of cornbread muffins, extra gravy, or a whole pumpkin pie to complete your meal.
When should I consider catering as an option?
Catering is perfect for crowds of 10 or more people and for events celebrated on days other than the actual holidays. Catering is not available on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day.
How do I know if my diner is open and serving holiday meals?
We always recommend calling the diner to confirm their holiday hours.
Why are you open for the holidays?
A guest once asked if we’d open on a holiday so they would have somewhere to enjoy a holiday meal. We said yes, and a tradition was born. Since then, Black Bear Diner has welcomed guests on Thanksgiving and Christmas as part of our commitment to comfort, community, and hospitality.
