Black Bear Diner has named Art Kilmer as its new Chief Operations Officer, bringing more than 20 years of restaurant industry experience to the growing, family‑friendly diner brand. Kilmer joined Black Bear Diner in August 2024, succeeding longtime executive Jeff Guido following his retirement. 

Kilmer comes to Black Bear Diner after a 24‑year tenure at P.F. Chang’s, where he most recently served as Chief Operations Officer. In that role, he oversaw more than 200 domestic restaurants and supported operations across 95 international and airport franchise locations. Throughout his career, Kilmer has led operations, supply chain, training and development, culinary innovation, marketing, and franchise development—experience that aligns closely with Black Bear Diner’s franchise-focused growth strategy. 

According to Black Bear Diner CEO Anita Adams, Kilmer’s leadership will help strengthen operational excellence while preserving the welcoming, community-centered atmosphere guests value. With more than 160 locations nationwide, including newly opened diners in Texas and continued expansion into TravelCenters of America sites, Black Bear Diner is focused on scaling efficiently without losing its signature comfort food, warm service, and down-to-earth hospitality. 

Recent design updates, including slightly reduced footprints that maintain spacious dining rooms, are part of the brand’s broader effort to support sustainable growth while continuing to serve hearty meals and all-day breakfast in inviting, community-focused diners across the U.S.
