Black Bear Diner Signs Multi-Unit Franchise Development Agreement for Northern California

Redding, Calif. – (September 30, 2014) – Black Bear Diner, a fast growth, award-winning family dining concept with 63 restaurants spread across eight western states, announced today the signing of a multi-unit franchise development agreement for Northern California. The multi-unit franchise agreement was signed with Norcal Cajun Foods II, Inc. The agreement includes five franchises in the greater Northern California region to be built out by 2017. This agreement is a major step towards the brand goal of 100 national units by 2018.

“We’re thrilled to have selected a franchise partner that can help propel the brand’s growth in Northern California,” said Bruce Dean, co-founder of Black Bear Diner. “We’ve experienced tremendous success with current franchises in Northern California because of a loyal base of customers. We anticipate this will be a win-win partnership for both the franchisee and our fans.”

Recognized for serving bear-sized portions of comfort food classics in a bear-themed restaurant, the brand is establishing itself as a dominant leader in the family dining segment. It was ranked by the restaurant industry research firm Technomic as the 33rd fastest growing chain, and 9th fastest among full-service restaurants. Nation’s Restaurant News also highlighted Black Bear Diner as a brand to watch in their Next 20 report.

“The brand is quickly dominating an entire segment, and the customer loyalty to the brand made this a very enticing and easy decision,” said Charanjiv Dhaliwal, president of Norcal Cajun Foods II, Inc. “We’re honored to be part of the Black Bear Diner family, and excited to share what Black Bear Diner is all about with a larger pool of customers across Northern California. We’re also excited to be part of the growth; we have no doubt Black Bear Diner will have a national presence in the very short term.”
